The No Skip Regime

Two given facts about us: We try to run as far away as possible from our harsh and humid summers, and skin can be both a sensitive and on occasion a very controversial subject.  Ranging from skin tone to skin conditions a lot of us men can be debatably tight-lipped about our regimens or lack thereof.

Largely this is due to uninformed assessments or obfuscated decisions taken by us, or professionals we trust with our skin. In mid-2018 the Society of Dermatology Skincare Specialists (SDSS) study showed that 87% of women do not know what the right products for their skin care. Here’s the better part, If 87% of women aren’t sure what’s right for their skin then let’s just say I couldn’t imagine what the numbers for men would be.

Is our skin normal, dry, oily, combination or sensitive? What needs to be done for our T-Zone? Our market is flooded with skin care products at every price range catering from lux to the mass market. Even with a surge and influx in foreign brands entering the country, there are skyrocketing numbers of both men and women who are never satisfied.

Amidst the numerous decisions we take in regards to our skincare regimen there is simplicity and efficacy with a few stand out products that have been tried and tested on various skin conditions. Whether you follow no skin regime or follow the K-Beauty 7 step regimen, a sunscreen with an SPF is fundamental in protecting yourself under any weather condition, cloud cover included. Neutrogena Ultrasheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen Broad Spectrum with SPF 55 caters to a range of skin conditions and provides the UVA and UVB protection one needs to keep their skin as healthy as possible.

Two words that describe Neutrogena’s sunscreen are ‘simple’ and ‘effective’. If applied correctly this product has serious efficacy. It continues to be one of the brands best sellers and is used by both men and women.  Neutrogena Ultrasheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen Broad Spectrum with SPF 55 is designed with it’s in house Helioplex technology, which protects from both UVAand UVB rays (Very simple to learn, A=aging and B=burns). There are two basic types of ultraviolet rays that reach the earth’s surface. UVB rays responsible for producing sunburn whilst UVA rays are deeper penetrating (penetrates through the Epidermis, Dermis and Hypodermis) and play a role in photoaging and wrinkled skin. Neutrogena’ sunscreen provides more than adequate protection from both.  Thus the Helioplex technology provides greater broad-spectrum protection.

Before we go into more benefits of this product it’s great to know the application is really very easy. Unlike the brand’s predecessor, Ultrasheer 50, this particular sunscreen gives off a slight beachy fragrance, which I actually like. It has a rich and creamy texture, so sometimes you can get away without moisturizer but don’t form a habit of it! I use a coin size amount after moisturizing which is more than sufficient. If you like spending time in the water just reapply after an hour or so. The size and packaging makes this product very travel-friendly and having carried this with me on board many flights I’ve noticed this product doesn’t leak which is common with a lot of beauty products. Now for one of the best things about the Neutrogena Ultra Dry Touch sunblock, it does all this and it won’t dent your monthly budget so you can even afford to buy a tube for your girlfriend since it makes a good primer hack, it adds a smooth layer, matts down any shine and make-up won’t slip. How’s that for a bit of trivia to impress a woman!
Returning to a “broad spectrum” range of benefits it’s no surprise why their Ultrasheer Sunscreen range has garnered many awards through the years. Having already touched on the Helioplex technology, The Dry Touch Feature makes this product ultralight with a matte finish. Clogged pores are up there with skin health concerns and this sunscreen is non- comedogenic hence it’s very easy on the pores and prevents clogging.

Bee Venom, Snail Mucus, Caviar, Red Algae, Cognac, Goats Milk, and even Meteorite Extract – What do these ingredients have in common? (Believe it or not, they are skincare ingredients!)

Their commonality lies in the fact that I have tried most of these products and let’s just say I had an “out of pocket experience.” These ingredients do provide results. However marketing aside, Neutrogena’s Ultrasheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen Broad Spectrum with SPF 55 is an affordable part of your daily skincare regimen and its Imperfekt Beauty does really lie in its simplicity and effectiveness.
