Whilst researching for the perfect perfume that embodies the delicate water lily, I must have smelled a dozen fragrances that claimed to have water lily as a dominating scent, but only one fragrance truly convinced me, Dolce Floral Drops by Dolce & Gabbana.
Floral Drops is the first flanker of the original Dolce and I cannot help thinking about ephemeral, as the word that would best describe this scent. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana wanted it to be “fresh and light, yet as precious as a morning caress.” The word caress resonated with me because that’s how it feels when you first spray this delicate darling on your skin, like a caress.
The opening is simply delicious, with Neroli leaves that add a crisp note without taking away from the overall gentleness. The heart of Dolce Floral Drops is white florals galore, with water lily being the star and a whiff of daffodil that rounds it off. While the base notes contain sandalwood and musk I personally found that the water lily still dominates even in the dry down after hours. It’s uplifting and pure and I feel it’s ideally suited for the daytime in warm climates. Given that its delicate, I get I was surprised to get a good five hours of longevity on my skin.
Definitely worth a try for all those who love their white florals with a hint of aqueous notes.
